"In this series, I express experiences from my childhood to my present life—a transition of pain, solitude, discrimination, betrayal, rejection, and abandonment to a new life of love, liberty, friendship, acceptance, overcoming and fullness.  

In this body of work created in mixed media, I attentively explore each material that I incorporate, since each application represents an important element, whether a feeling or a specific experience.  

Each texture indicates a scar, and each color or glaze, a new sky, a world where hope prevails and peace surpasses all circumstances, where desperate shouts of pain are transformed into whispers of love, and where all bad things somehow turn into good, whether for my own sake or to give encouragement to those who need it."—Carla Veliz
